D’ Apple Café

A new family owned restaurant has come to Coral Springs.

And customers say it’s as comforting and tasty as apple pie.

Hence the name, D’Apple Café has just opened its doors two weeks ago.

“Ever since I moved to South Florida, I’ve loved Coral Springs. It just seemed like the right place,” said co-owner Michelle Kendall who owns the restaurant with her mother Debbe and brother Diron.

The family owned and operated business serves up a smile and delicious meals seven days a week for breakfast and lunch from

“I haven’t seen a lot of breakfast places on this side of town and because ours is family owned it is very homey,” Kendall said.

In addition to a family atmosphere, D’ Apple offers good home cooking from omelets to waffles and of course D’Apple Delight.

“We have high quality meats, real potatoes, and 100% angus burgers. It’s a lot of high quality foods and the high quality makes a difference in the taste,” she said. “Everything from bacon and egg breakfast, wraps, and meatloaf is high quality and in a more relaxed atmosphere than just your everyday diner.”

She added, “We’ve only been open a short time and many customers have been here 3 or 4 times already. They try everything and so far there has not been a single complaint about food.”

And there should not be any complaints since the family has been in the restaurant business for many years.

“This is the first restaurant we’ve ever owned but my mom has 43 years in the restaurant business. We were always doing it for someone else, but we decided to give it a try on our own,” she said.

So the mother, brother, his wife Michelle and their family moved to South Florida from Arizona; signed a lease in September and began fixing up the establishment with Debbe’s collection of apple decorations. However, her mother became unexpectedly ill.

“Not long after our mom had a brain aneurysm, and we were always at the hospital with her. She lost her hearing in one ear, but is very lucky to be alive,” she said. “Between going to the hospital and cleaning the restaurant, it slowed down our opening.”

But even while she was in the hospital, Debbe was still pushing her daughter and son to keep focused on opening the restaurant.

“She would come out of testing, wake up and ask us why are you here?” Kendall said. “Her dream was the restaurant.”

That dream recently became a reality for the family.

But for Kendall, being able to work with family everyday is her dream come true.

“Being with my family is the best part,” she said. “Our only regret is not doing it sooner.”
